Arumba is a piece of music that I feel expresses a sense of seduction and wasn’t written to vent my feelings about the horrible events of September 11. But September 11/01 did in some way affect the way in which this music turned out. Thanks to the skill and range of the Sandro Dominelli Quintet, the emotional scope of Arumba became broader and more complex and at times I feel it expresses anger.
